Alfred, Robert Edward - 76, North River, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2009 surrounded by his loved ones in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in McLennan, Alberta, he was a son of the late John and Caroline Alfred. A very loving and giving person, he was always willing to help, placing others first. He was actively sponsoring several children in the Christian Children’s Fund. His grandchildren were the love of his life. He loved gardening, tending his flowers, walking in the woods with his dog, Lexus and enjoyed time spent with his church family. He is survived by daughter; Jean Dunn, Onslow; sons, Douglas (Cindy), Harmony, Wade (Kathleen), Halifax, Leighton (Nancy), Onslow Mountain; grandchildren, Kristen, Michael, Stephen, Jeremy; step grandchildren, Jennifer McCabe, Sarah Fraser, Brent Nolan; step great granddaughter, Alex Fraser; brother, Jack (Natalie) and sister, Carolyn French, both of Alberta. He was predeceased by brothers, Henry and Eugene. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro; funeral service on Saturday, March 21st at 11:00 am in Calvary Pentecostal Church, 20 Curtis Drive with Rev. Jeff Goodwin officiating. Spring interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Children’s Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
