Bodenham, Roberta Sylvia “Podâ€, 74 of Robie Street, Truro, passed away Friday, March 19, 2009, in Colchester Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy (Delaney) Bailey, step-father Ellis Bailey and father Dimock McNutt. She was raised in Onslow Mountain by her grandparents Patrick and Nancy (Crowe) Delaney. Her home in Onslow Mountain “The Farm†was a place that held a special spot in her heart because it was the gathering place for her aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, cousins and neighbours. Music, hard work and devoted family were the things she was raised with and carried through her entire life. She worked for several different places across Canada as a young woman, traveling with her friend Peggy. She later returning back to Truro with her husband and children where she worked at Stanfield’s for 25 years. She was a humble lady who was strongly devoted to her family, especially her son Glenn and granddaughter Jenna. She will be missed deeply by her entire family, friends and her dog Buddy.
She is survived by son Glenn Bodenham; daughter Cindy Bodenham (Vincent Seeton) and Granddaughter Jenna Seeton; sisters, Colleen Collins (Dawson), Nancy Lynds (Fred) their brother Darrell Bailey (Linda) and brother Roger McNutt (Linda), sister Ardith Bartlett (Hal): also survived by special sister-in-laws Betty McNutt, Ida McLeod, Marg Elliott; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Fulton Bodenham; brothers Rodney and Wayne Bailey, brothers Chum, Buster, Burchell McNutt and sister Vivian Wood.
Visitation will be 7 to 9 Saturday and funeral service 2 pm Sunday, all in Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro with niece Kenda McLellan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Bible Hill Cemetery, Bible Hill. Donations in Roberta’s memory may be made to the Special Olympics or to the S.P.C.A.
