Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, March 20, 2009, of Mrs. Dette McGuigan (nee Trainor) of Charlottetown, age 87 years. Beloved wife of the late James Arthur “Art” McGuigan, and dear mother of Robin (Sherry), Eileen (Bill) Weatherbie, Mary (John) Hurley, Art (Susan Carroll), and George (Cheri). She is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and sisters-in-law Imelda, Sheila and Moyra Trainor and Lill and Ann McGuigan. She was predeceased by her parents, J.J. and Florence (nee MacDonald) Trainor, infant granddaughter Lela Robyn and brothers Frank, Charlie, Somerled and Jack Trainor. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 Wednesday morning, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment will take place later in the family plot at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions in Dette’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of P.E.I., the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince Edward Home, or the Upper Room.
