Earle Gordon Kennedy, 92, Brookfield and formerly of Truro, passed away March 20, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro.
Born in Middle Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Frank and Ella (Millen) Kennedy.
One of 10 children, he understood strong work ethics, working as a young man in the saw mills and drove taxi during wartime. Later he started his own taxi service in Truro in the early '60s.In his youth, he loved hunting, and lived a simple, but full life. He loved his grandchildren and was deeply interested in politics.
He is survived by daughters Anne Roste, B.C.; Marie (Walter) Cibulski, New Hampshire; Gail (Peter) Jasperson, Salmon River; Darlene (Paul) Parry, B.C.; sister Hazel Kennedy, Brookfield; brother Alden (Grace), Middle Stewiacke; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son James; sisters Ethel, Myrtle; brothers Austin, Albert, Cyril, Aubrey and Stanley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a funeral service on Wednesday, March 25 at 2 p.m., all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Spring interment in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
