George Kempton "Kempt" MacDonald, age 87, Drummond Road, Westville, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, in Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow.
Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late Edward and Sadie (English) MacDonald.
Kempt was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #35, Westville. He worked on the CNR and later as a poster of signs and billboards with the E.L. Ruddy Company. Kempt was also a caretaker of Stellarton Town Hall and First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton for many years. He enjoyed mechanics and had a passion for fishing.
Kempt is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Oldford); son, George (Carol), Westville; two grandchildren, Brian, Westville and Valerie, Halifax; and three great-grandchildren: Cameron, Devon, and Madison. He is also survived by sister, Sadie Sample, Truro; and brother, Eddie, St. Catharines, Ont.
He was predeceased by sister, Mae Oliver; a brother, Alex; and infant brother, Stewart.
Visitations will be held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #35, Westville will conduct a service at 6:30 Monday at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Tuesday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery, Westville.
