Passed peacefully away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer at the Health Sciences Centre on March 21st, 2009. Maureen R. Simon, age 70 years. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and William Maher and sister Peg Auchinleck. Left to celebrate her life her devoted husband Mike; her children; Michael (Sheila), Peggy, Christine (Brent) and Dean. Three precious grandchildren Christopher, Benjamin and Ethan. Sisters Helen (Frank) Power and Pat; brothers Tom (Joan), Bob (Carol), Dave (Clarice), Billy, Kevin (Agg) and Paul (Sharon). As well as a large circle of extended family and close friends, especially those from Bell Island. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Laing and the dedicated doctors and nurses at the cancer clinic. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation will take place on Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from The Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.
