The death of Stanley W. Loughery, age 77, of Amherst, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, March 20, 2009. Born in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Stanley and Yvonne (Furze) Loughery.
After 2 years with the Saint John Police Force, Stanley started his 25 year career with the RCAF receiving the Canadian Forces Decoration. The holder of a private pilot's license, he was as well a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge, Amherst, having previously joined in Germany. He was a member of the Shrine (Philae Temple) as well as a Knight Templar and Royal Arch Mason. He enjoyed music and model planes.
Stanley will be sadly missed by his spouse, Lois Perry; a son, Stephen; 3 daughters, Jane (Paul), Eleanor (Burt) and Joanne (Scott); 3 grandchildren, Robbie, Jessica and Rachel; a sister, Nancy (Ray) Golabiewski; Lois's children Wayde, Cathy (Dave) Gilmore and grandchildren, Peter, Joshua, Meghan and Courtney and great granddaughter Arley. He was predeceased by his first wife, Evelyn Porter.
Stanley's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, from where the memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 2 pm. A time of visitation will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday from 7 to 9 pm. Acacia Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial service at 8 pm. Donations to the Palliative Care or Shriners Children's Hospital would be gratefully appreciated.
