A. Eugene Dupuis age 84 of Amherst passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Olive (Vienneau) Dupuis. Eugene was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Navy in Hong Kong. He worked at the Maritime Pant Factory in Amherst, Young's Service Station and later for Week's Grocery and then worked in Toronto as Service Manager for Unitog and superintendant for Meridian Properties. Eugene was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He leaves to mourn his wife the former Pauline Higgins, one son Gary
(Debbie) of Dartmouth and one daughter Trudy (Perry) Shea of Truro, two step sons Robert (Bonnie) McNeil of Springhill and Gregory (Helen) McNeil of Halifax, eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, special niece Betty Murchie of Brockville, ON as well as several other nieces and nephews. Eugene was predeceased by two brothers Henry and Archie in infancy and four sisters Celeste Melanson, Georgina McGilvray, Irene Hartford and Blanche Austin. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. from Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906) immediately followed by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 tribute service. Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
