ANN SLOBODA
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ann Sloboda (nee Hryhor) at the age of 95 years on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home in Prince Albert, SK. Ann was born on December 4, 1913. She married John Sloboda in 1933 and they resided on the farm in the Henribourg area and were blessed with two children. Ann was an active member of the Ukrainian Church Ladies Auxiliary in Honeymoon and Prince Albert for over 60 years. She moved to Prince Albert in 1965. She was an avid gardener with beautiful flowers and a bountiful garden. Ann loved spending quality time with her five cherished grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren added further joy and delight to her life. They were all special in her eyes. Ann is survived by her loving family: her daughter Marie Cholodnuik and her children Teras (Jewel) Cholodnuik [Jordan, Kaela, Steven], Sylvia Cholodnuik, Thom Cholodnuik [Kieran]; her son Peter (Stella) Sloboda and their children Jean Sloboda, James (Angel) Sloboda [Erin, Kevin]; her sisters Sophie Krakowetz, Kay (Anthony) Borysko, Jean (Adolph) Pawlyshyn; her sister-in-law Pauline Hryhor as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Sloboda in 1961; her parents Rose and Onufry Hryhor; her brothers Frank, Peter, John; her sister Mary Dawiskiba; her sisters-in-law Jean and Anna Hryhor; her brothers-in-law Walter Krakowetz, Adolph Dawiskiba and her son-in-law Steve Cholodnuik. Prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 from Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church – 684 – 3 Avenue East. The Reverend Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz will officiate. Interment will take place in the Orthodox Section of South Hill Cemetery. It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Mont St. Joseph Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Society or charity of donor’s choice.
