It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Adeline Wasley announce her passing on Wednesday March 25, 2009. Adeline was the last member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Antonia, her brothers, Nestor and Mero Slaw, and her sisters, Olga and Evangeline. She is survived by a nephew, a niece, numerous cousins, and many friends. Adeline was born in Winnipeg, MB but grew up in Moose Jaw. She graduated from Central Collegiate, attended Normal School and began a teaching career that spanned many years. She taught in the three western provinces. In BC she taught near Kimberly, Kelowna and Abbotsford. While in Alberta she taught near Medicine Hat and Calgary. She concluded her service to the education of many children at King Edward School in Moose Jaw. The happiest days of Adeline’s life were during her years spent in the classroom. Adeline participated in all kinds of sports particularly softball. Adeline enjoyed travelling, reading, and entertaining guests in her home. She held a deep faith in God and relied on His care many times throughout life. She was a devoted member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. Adeline was always proud of the cultural values and traditions of her Ukrainian heritage. She was a member of the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan. Upon retirement Adeline enjoyed countless hours in her garden and she generously gave to friends and strangers of its bounty. She was noted for her hospitality to those who came to visit her. She would serve a lunch or meal and then often send something home with the guest. For almost the last three years Adeline has made her home at Chez Nous where she often enjoyed the bingo games. An Evening Prayer Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Sunday March 29, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Ukrainian Catholic Church, 621 Fifth Ave.S.W., Moose Jaw, on Monday March 30, 2009 at 10:00 am. Father Yurij Lazurko will be the Celebrant. Interment will take place at the family plot in Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to a charity of choice would be appreciated. In living memory of Adeline, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
