It is with great sadness that we the family announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle, Hughie Wilson on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at home.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the eldest family member of the late Hugh and Marguerite (Chiasson) Wilson.
He was an adherent member of Holy Cross Church.
Hughie was educated as an LPN. In his younger years he worked in Ontario before returning home to Glace BAy to continue to work at the General Hospital, the Glace Bay Health Care Facility and lastly Taigh Na Mara. A quiet man by nature with a great sense of humour and will be sorely missed by his family and co-workers.
Hughie is survived by his sisters, Margie (Darrell) McMullin, Glace Bay, Betty (Egan) McDonald, New Market, Ont.; brothers, Jim (Marilyn), Kevin (Brenda), both of Glace Bay. He is also survived by uncle, Earl (Kay) Wilson, Glace Bay; niecees and nephews, Darren, Trevor, Terry, Brent McMullin, Sean and Danielle McDonald, Mark, Laura and Sara Wilson, Erika, Stephen and Melissa Wilson as well as grandnieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Church with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anne’s Cemetery. Following the mass all are invited to join the family for a reception in the church hall.
