WAGNER - Roy Leo Wagner was welcomed home by his Lord March 23, 2009, at the age of 93 years. Prayer service was held Friday, March 27, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Warren's Home with Julie Randall officiating. The funeral mass took place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with Father Sathiadas and Father Job Addia officiating. The organist was Marlene Dolter and Sacred Heart Parish Choir. The life tribute was presented by Roy's son Delmar Wagner. The readers were his granddaughters Genna Wagner, Britney Wagner and Marisha Wagner. Ushers were Julien Wagner and Pat Wagner and the pallbearers were his grandsons Brett Wagner, Troy Jacobsen, Kaleb Wagner, Trent Wagner, Braden Wagner and Laurie Wagner. Roy was laid to rest beside his wife Eleanor, in Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK. Roy is survived by his children, daughter Geraldine (Ralph) Jacobsen and their son Troy Jacobsen; son Garry (Esther) Wagner and their children Marisha and Kaleb; son Delmer (Doreen) Wagner and their children Genna, Trent and Braden; son Ernie (Wendy) Wagner and their children Brett and Britney; brothers, George (Marmy), and Tony; and sister Emily. He was predeceased by his parents Zack and Margret; sisters Mary, Kay, Fanny and Rose; brothers Joe, Pete, Kasper and Al. Roy was born on the homestead in the Rostadt District on October 28, 1915. He attended school at the Cululic and Lancer School. In his younger years Roy worked on threshing crews and as a farm hand for David Anderson and later in Eston for the Carruthers. He and his brother purchased the farm in 1945. Roy was united in marriage to Eleanor Gross on February 6, 1946, at the Sacred Heart Rectory. Farming was Roy's passion and along with Eleanor they farmed and raised their family in the Lancer District. He loved to check the fields and harvest was always a special time of year. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards making sausage, playing his harmonica, singing, and dancing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and knew how to play with them. Roy was proud of his Hardpar Tractor and spoke about it often and was always interested in operating any new equipment that was purchased. Roy will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends. In his memory, memorial donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
