Steven Isaac Francis Knockwood, 20, of Eskasoni, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 28, 2009.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of Norma Jane Knockwood of Eskasoni and the late Fred Battiste Jr.
He was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. Steve was an avid sports fan who loved baseball, playing cards with his friends and enjoying life.
He is survived by his daughter Saira, Eskasoni; five brothers, Fred (Chastity), Sam, Albert, Tony, Adam, all of Eskasoni; three sisters, Hanna, at home, Caitlan, Whycocmagh, Annie, Eskasoni; paternal grandfather, Fred Battiste Sr. of Eskasoni; maternal grandmother, Mary Knockwood of Eskasoni and by aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, a nephew ‘Baby Fred’; best friend, John and great-grandmother, Mary Rose Gould of Membertou; godmother, Wendy Gehue, Shubenacadie and godfather, Blair Francis of Eskasoni. .
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Frances Battiste; maternal grandfather, Isaac F. Knockwood; uncle, Isaac J. Knockwood; cousin, Isaac Denny; great-uncle, Francis ‘Rubby’ Gould and Milton ‘Bi-Bi’ Gould.
Visitation for Steven Knockwood will take place on Saturday after 7 p.m. at 53 Logan Drive, Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
