In Memory of Adam Slonski
Who passed away on March 31, 2009
Adam was born in the Samburg District on June 16, 1928. He was raised on the family farm being 1 out of 12 children. On June 24, 1956 he married Victoria Bogucki and continued on his own farm in the Strong Pine area. He cultivated his own crop and produced 7 children, Winnie (Paul) Allman of Rural PA, Robert David Slonski (deceased 1971), Jenny (Marrion) Praski of Melfort, Brian Slonski of Tisdale, Phyllis (Terry) MacDonald of Saskatoon. Sheri (Jason) Duffield of PA and Brandi Slonski of PA; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Many got to know him, as after rebuilding his sawmill, he spent 20 years sawing logs and met a large variety of people. Another of his accomplishments was being a councilor in the RM of Garden River. He took pride in a road being built correctly and made sure everyone got a fair deal. For 30 years he served undefeated until his retirement in 2005. Dad served on the hospital board for a number of years. Politics and religion played an important part of his life and brought out some interesting discussions. Upon retiring from farming, he moved to Prince Albert. Family was very important to him and he loved going for coffee. If someone just left and another showed up Yep! It was time to go again. Dad was predeceased by his parents John and Maria Slonski; 1 son Robert; brothers Joe, Pete and Frank; sister Pauline Kalinowski; 3 siblings in infancy; brothers-in-law Harry Kalinowski and Adam Stankowski and sister-in-law Joy Bogucki. You can shed tears that he is gone or smile because he has lived. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009 with Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009 with celebrant Father Francis Agbezuge. Both services will be held at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church, 589 – 9th Street East, Prince Albert SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
