WILHELMINE (MINNIE) GAUSMAN
Minnie was born at Dilke, Saskatchewan on August 18, 1915 to Theodore and Wilhelmina Bitzer. Minnie attended school in Dilke for 3 years and in 1925 the family moved to Star City, Saskatchewan where she completed her remaining education. Minnie and Raymond Gausman were married June 16, 1942 at Melfort, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray, in December, 1944 and her son, Bud, in October, 1966. Minnie’s career began in Peesane at Fred and Mary Huyghebaert’s Store, followed by working at Nyuli’s General Store for many years. In 1966 she moved to Melfort, where she was employed at Star Department Store until her retirement in June, 1980. After her retirement, she lived at Caskey Place in Melfort until her move to Moose Jaw. She was an active member of the Secord Rebekah Lodge in Melfort, Saskatchewan from December, 1967 until December, 1994 when the lodge surrendered it’s charter. Minnie was very active doing volunteer work while in Melfort and was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, and playing cards and yahtzee, with all her friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, giving advice and sharing her wisdom. She moved to the Bentley Retirement Home, Moose Jaw in February, 2001 until April, 2004. In May, 2004 Minnie took up residency at Providence Place where she enjoyed playing in the band, bowling, and participating in many additional activities including attending church regularly. Minnie was predeceased by her parents and brothers; Teddy, Adolph, Herman, Gus, Rudy, and sisters; Pauline & Emma. Left to cherish her memory and spirit is her daughter Diane (Frank) Klatik and grandchildren; Kelly Klatik (wife Lisa Marie Acosta) and Rhonda Klatik (partner Jim Ferrier). Also her loving sisters; Clara Hawke, Edna (Angus) McInroy, Anne Nolan, Mary (Frank) Murray and Christine McLeod, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Minnie’s Life was held on March 30th. Tributes to Minnie were read by her grandchildren Kelly and Rhonda Klatik. A reading was read by Lisa Marie Acosta. Donations may be made to the CNIB Foundation as a token of remembrance. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements entrusted to Barron’s Funeral Chapel. Tisdale, Sk.
