James Herman "Jim" Miller

James Herman "Jim" Miller Aged 73 years of Main Street, Springhill, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Bernard and Martha (Maddison) Miller. In early years Jim worked for the railway, Halliday Craftsman, and then a self-employed carpenter until his retirement. Dad loved his family, his friends and the woods (hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and four wheeling). His woodwork was his passion, building things from boats, houses and a milking parlour to cabinets and unique furniture. He especially enjoyed his three grandchildren and the great grandchildren and has crafted beautiful memories for all of them. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, the former Clara Ann Howard; daughters, Pamela (Gerald) Davis, Springhill, Cathy Miller (Jerome Holland) Halifax and son, Andy Miller (Lisa MacDonald) Springhill; grandchildren, Melanie Davis-Burke (Mike Arsenault) Springhill, Matthew Davis (Leah Rutledge) Enfield and Danielle Miller (Chris Godfrey) Springhill, five great grandchildren; sisters-in-laws; nieces and nephews and many good buddies. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Bernie Miller. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held 1 - 3 pm Saturday, November 8, 2008 followed immediately at 3:00 pm by the Memorial Funeral Service, with Pastor Scott Balser officiating, both held in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Burial in Rodney Cemetery, Rodney, N. S. If so desired, donations to Springhill Baptist Church or charity of choice would be appreciated.
