Aged 89 years of High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2008 in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Nappan. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was the son of the late Charles and Maud (Baker) Wheeler. John served with the Royal Canadian Air Force for 35 years and was known to all churches while living in Calgary. He was a gentle and giving man, enjoyed rap music, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Maudina (MacDonald) (Maillet) Wheeler. Daughter, Dorothy Halverson (Donald McCartney) of Springhill and son, Dale Maillet of Calgary. Eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Hetty Denelle and sister, Patricia Wheeler. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Calgary, Alta. with burial to follow in Queen's Cemetery, Calgary. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
