Leo Joseph White Aged 99 years of South Esk, N. B. and formerly of Springhill, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, Miramichi, N. B. Born in Springhill on August 23, 1909, he was a son of the Late John William and Mary Alice (Boudreau) White. A popular barber in Springhill for more that 50 years, Leo also enjoyed spending many hours building and creating things for his family. More than one generation of Springhillers will have appreciated his creative, animated Christmas scenes displayed in his barbershop window on Main Street. He is survived by his children, Virginia White of Halifax; Marianne (Greg) Colburne, Miramichi, N. B., and Robert White, N. B.; sister, Sylvia Dollemont, Moncton, N. B.; grandchildren, Orrick White, Ottawa, Frank Almeda, N. B., Sara Colburne, Halifax and Alicia (Wally) Langille, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years the former Irene Marie McMillan; children, Veronica Eva and Dorothy Jane MacKay; brothers, Anthony "Tony", Alexander, Gilbert, and Theophilus; Sisters, Eva and Lena White and Olive Godfrey; brother in law Joseph Dollemont, Sr. Visitation held 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 today in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral Mass held 11:00 am Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill, with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery, North Street, Springhill, at a later date. If so desired, donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
