Mona Gertrude Appleton Aged 94, of Springhill, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully in Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan on Saturday January 3, 2009 with her family by her side. Born in Oxford, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late Gordon W. and Margaret W. (Chapman) Wood. She was a former member of Colfax Rebekah Lodge #7, Oxford. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. Surviving is her husband, Arnold D. Appleton, Springhill, Cumberland Co.; son, Clifford A. Dixon (Sherry) of Oxford; granddaughters, Cindy, Lisa, and Helen also a grandson, Donald. Also surviving is a step granddaughter and three step grandsons also a number of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren as well as two nieces. She was predeceased by her first husband, Austin H. Dixon; sisters, Pansy Elmers, Jean Wood, Garda Wood and a brother, Cecil Wood. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service at the request of the deceased. A graveside committal service will take place in the Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date with Rev. Bert Collins officiating. Donations to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
