Shirley Ann Gilroy

Aged 70, Valley, Shirley Ann Gilroy passed away peacefully at the Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro on Nov. 30, 2008. Born in Oshawa, Ont., in 1938, she was the daughter of the late David and Irene (Gifford) Hutcheon. Shirley lived in Belleville, Montreal, Quebec City and Halifax before retiring to Valley. She was a graduate of Dalhousie University School of Costume Design and had a lifelong passion for sewing. She was a founding member of the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia and was an executive member of Epilepsy Canada. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Edward; children Karen Allen, Halifax; Layton (Melanie), Elmsdale; Barbara (Basil), North Milton, PE. She was a loving grandmother to Tristan and Madeline Dickson. She is also survived by brothers Harry (Jean) Alan (Joan), Manny (Ellie), Bert(Glenda) and Bruce (Colleen). She was predeceased by brothers Clarence (Edith) and Ron (Gloria). Visitations were held Tues, Dec. 2 with a Memorial Celebration of her life on Wed, Dec. 3, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
