Troy Canning

Troy Canning Aged 39 years of Black River Road, Springhill, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 near Brandon, Manitoba. Born in Springhill, he was a son of Bonnie (Dallas) Riebesehl, Springhill and Frederick (Linda) Canning, Southampton. Troy was a great lover of the outdoors. He served proudly with the 1st Battalion, The Nova Scotia Highlanders (North) as a reservist in his younger years, and continued to serve his community as an Independent Distributor with Farmer's Dairy Ltd., earning him the proud name "Milkman" to those who knew him well. He was employed with Norex Exploration Services/Conquest Seismic of Calgary, Alberta, from which he takes fond memories of his crew "105" with him. He will be remembered for his compassion, loyalty, honesty and kindness towards all who have had the pleasure to be in his company. He is survived by his fiancee, Erin MacAloney; his former wife, Jeanette Rolfe-Canning, Amherst, who shared 17 years together was the mother of their children; daughters, Mataea Canning, Amherst and Deanna Canning, Victoria, BC,; son, Bradley Canning, Amherst; step daughter, Jasey Brown, Springhill; sisters, Stephanie (Gerry) Ross, Dartmouth, Heather (Jamie Wood) Canning and Janette (Shane) Melanson both of Springhill, brother, Steven Spicer, Windham Hill, Cumb. Co.; paternal grandmother Evelyn Canning, Springhill; father, James Dethy, Oakville, Ontario; several, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Amy and Albert Dowe; paternal grandfather, Don Canning; special aunt Heather Damery; several aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place. Visitation held 1 - 3 pm Friday, January 30, 2009 followed immediately at 3:00 pm by a Memorial Funeral Service both held in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Burial in West Brook Cemetery, Cumb. Co., at a later date. A celebration of Troy's life was held for family and friends 7:00 pm Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Springhill. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Diabetic Association or charity of choice would be appreciated. Memories will be cherished, our hearts will be with you and your smile will always remain. You will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered forever.
