Sackville, N.B. - Arthur Marven McFadden, age 80, of Sackville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease. Born in Johnson’s Mills, he was a son of the late Abner and Flossie (King) McFadden. Before retiring Arthur worked at Mount Allison University, Fawcett and Enterprise Foundries, Summerlea United Church and Sackville Cab. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, bingo, his ATV and most of all his grandchildren and great granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Gladys (MacPhee); daughter, Sheila (Gerry) Parker of Sackville; son Calvin (Kim) of Sackville; granddaughters Pam (Kevin McDuff) and Ashley McFadden; grandsons, Donald Estabrooks, and Jeremy Landry; great-granddaughters, Nicole and Caitlin Traxler; brothers-in-law, Byron Jr. (Glen) MacPhee, and Heber (Rosalie) MacPhee; sisters-in-law, Laura Darrach, Jennie MacPhee, and Jean MacPhee; as well as several nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by sisters, Mabel Tower, Helen Sears, and Blanche Fitzpatrick; brother Ellsworth McFadden; brothers-in-law Murray Tower, Earl Sears, Victor Fitzpatrick, Carl MacPhee, and Everett MacPhee. Arthur’s remains have been cremated under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-1300). Family and friends were invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Perkin officiating. Burial will take place in the Westcock Cemetery at a later date.
