Sackville, N.B. - Blanid (Killorn) Bowes, age 83, passed away on September 1, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born on March 7, 1925 in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Mabel Killorn. Blanid spent her early working years at the income tax office in Saint John. N.B. For 20 years, Blanid was employed by Mount Allison University in Sackville, serving as secretary to the dean of religious studies and the registrar. Blanid will be sadly missed by her three sons, Andrew (Carol) of Bothell, Washington, Stephen (Kim) of Shediac River, N.B. and Mark (Mindy) of Woodstock, N.B.; her sister, Mary (Frank) Collins of Saint John, N.B.; her brother, William (Lucille) of Bedford, N.S. and five grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Eric, Allissa and Molly. She was predeceased by her husband Frederick and her brother John. Arrangements were entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation took place on Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Saint Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, with Father Allison Carroll officiating. Cremation followed the service and burial took place on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Saint John, N.B. Donations in memory of Blanid may be made to the Lung Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
