Chesley (Chet) Edward Beal

Chesley (Chet) Edward Beal, age 80, of Amherst passed away Monday, March 19, 2007, at Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Sackville, N.B., he was a son of the late Henry and Jessica (Chase) Beal. He attended Sackville schools and Mount Allison University where he received a business degree. Chet was employed with Blacks Hardware in Sackville, N.B. and Dunlap Brothers Hardware in Amherst. He was an avid curler and golfer until his health prevented his participation. He is a life member of Acacia Lodge #8 and served as treasurer for over 20 years. Chet was also treasurer of the Masonic Society for many years. He also was a past member of the Sackville Golf Club and Amherst Curling Club and the K-40. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ruth (MacKay); daughter Debbie (Peter) Frenette; son Sherman (Jackie) Beal; grandchildren Emily, Natalie and Matthew; one brother Harry of Shubenacadie, N.S.; and one sister Helen Ward of Sackville, N.B. He was predeceased by brothers Victor, Norman, Ronald, Murray, Gordon and Kenneth; and two infant sisters Doris and Shirley. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 22, 2007, from 1-2 p.m. at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, (667-9906). Acacia Lodge #8 held their tribute service at 2 p.m. followed by the funeral service with Rev. Susan Estabrooks officiating. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish Bridge. Family flowers only.
