Glencross, Alex Thornton, (90): Passed away very peacefully on September 18, 2008 at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, N.B. Formerly of Little Shemogue, N.B., he was born in Donkin, N.S., to the late Joseph and Katherine (MacPherson) Glencross. He was a life member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Claireville, N.B. He served in the Carleton-York Regiment in World War II 1939 - 1945. He is survived by three sons, Anthony (Geraldine) of Cornwall, P.E.I, Philip (Catherine) of Little Shemogue, N.B., and John (Linda) of Surrey, B.C.; two daughters, Patricia of Little Shemogue and Catherine (Roger) Merrick of Whites Lake, N.S.; grandson Christopher (Nancy) of Toronto, Ont.; granddaughters Tanya (Mark) Reich of Balinafad, Ont., Juanita (Christopher) Winslow of Dunedin P.E.I, Jennifer (Laurie) Little of Bayside, N.S., Amanda Merrick of Halifax, N.S., and Christa and Rebecca of Surrey, B.C.; three great grandsons Matthew and Thomas of Balinafad, Ont., and Gary of Dunedin, P.E.I.; two sisters, Alda Hicks of St. John and Necia (Skip) Livingstone of Riverview, N.B. He was predeceased by his wife Doris (Russell) Glencross; infant daughter Diane; three brothers Garland, Gordon and George (Jr.); two sisters Doris and Bertha; and a step-father George Lyons. Interment has taken place at Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin, N.B., Rev. Father Stockhall officiating. Donations in memorium may be made to the Drew Nursing Home, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice. Poppa was a kind, generous and wonderful father who was so cherished by his family and will be forever loved and missed. The family would like to thank our sister Patricia for the years of loving care she gave our DAD.
