James Mackay

The death of James MacKay, of Amherst, age 79, occurred at the Moncton City Hospital, Monday, Feb. 12, 2007. Born in Linden, N.S., he was a son of the late Albert and Ora (MacDonald) MacKay. In his younger years James enjoyed farming. James was well known in Amherst from his job at the Amherst Court House. A homebody, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 42 years, Bertha, Amherst; their son Nevin, Sackville; their two grandsons Mitchell and Brody. From a former marriage, he has a daughter Patricia (Martin) Veenhuis; and a son David (Mary); grandchildren Cassandra, Paul, Shauna and Diana; a brother Ernest (Carol) MacKay, Amherst; and a sister Helen Wilson, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by his brother Douglas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (667-8777). Visitation was held at the Furlong-Jones Chapel, 66 Church St, last Wednesday. The funeral was held from the chapel on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at 11 a.m, Rev. Steven Longmoore officiating.
