John Carter

The death of John G. Carter, age 85, of Sackville, and formerly of Point De Bute, occurred peacefully on Friday morning, October 12, 2007 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Sackville in 1922, he was a son of the late Harry and Ethel (Fillmore) Carter. John was a retired farmer, having raised and exhibited pure bred shorthorn cattle. He sold life insurance for Mutual and Manual Life for over 30 years and was a well known auctioneer throughout the area. He is survived by his wife, the former Joyce Atkinson, Sackville; two sons, Donald (Joyce), Dartmouth and John, B.C. ; three step-children, Rebecca Stulberg, Ottawa, Duncan (Irena) Gould, New Zealand and Virginia Gould, Fredericton, NB; two grandchildren, Greg and Jennifer; and 11 step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Jane in 1961; his first wife, Marjorie Fullerton; and brothers, Cedric and Donald. Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, N.B. where all were invited to visit with the family on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. The funeral service was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Sackville Monday, October 15, 2007 at 11 a.m., Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating.
