Sackville, N.B.- Lillian B. Read, age 83, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born on July 23, 1925, in Upper Rockport, N.B., Lillian was the daughter of the late Ernest and Florence (Babcock) Read. Lillian enjoyed sewing and knitting many things which included quilts and slippers. She loved animals of all kinds, especially her cats, but most importantly, Lillian loved spending time with her family, especially enjoying the children. She was considered to be like a second mother to many people. Lillian will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, Joyce (John) Atkinson, Melbourne (Nancy) Read, Walter (Judy) Read, Wilbur (Marlene) Read, Cynthia (Doug) Carter, Lottie Hicks, Janet (Doug) Hart, Chester Tower and Alberta (James) Harris. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Jennie Read and Mabel Read (Banford Tower); brother Rupert Read (Mae Tower) and by her nephew Vincent Tower. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Allan Sears officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Rockport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lillian may be made to the Rockport Cemetery, the Rockport United Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
