Robert Lee "Bob" Haley

Robert Lee “Bob” Haley, age 75, of Sackville, formerly of Baie Verte, passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009. Born in Anfield, he was a son of the late Charles and Shirley (Harding) Haley. He was a member of the Port Elgin Westmorland Masonic Lodge and the Fort Monckton Chapter #11 of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the St. James United Church, Baie Verte. In his younger years he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was employed with CBC RCI for 32 years. He was involved with the Tantramar Education Foundation and served on the board of the Sackville Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara Wells, Sackville; three sons, David (Kelly), Woodstock, Stephen (Linda), Riverview, N.B., and Bill (Sherry), Halifax; one daughter, Rhonda, Halifax; 12 grandchildren; two great grandaughters; three brothers, Charles Jr. (Myrna), Amherst, John (Linda), Oshawa, Floyd (Sharon), Oshawa; five sisters, Margaret (Arthur) Holmes, Baie Verte, Shirley Callaghan, Oshawa, Arlene (Brian) Lines, Baie Verte, Deborah (Michael) Jones, Sackville, Linda (Robert) Haley-Trenholm, Port Elgin; sister-in-law Doreen, Port Elgin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers; Harold, Wilfred, Edward, Roger and Frank and an infant brother. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, N.B. (506-364-1300) where visiting hours were held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service took place at the Jones Funeral Home on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 11 a.m., Pastor Vernon Vickruck officiating. Burial will take place in the Baie Verte Cemetery in the spring.
