AMHERST- Douglas "Doug" P. McClary, 79 years of age, of Amherst passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in River Hebert he was a son of the late Aubrey and Sarah (King) McClary. He loved to work in his garage. A self trained mechanic he enjoyed building tractors, woodsplitters and trailers. Doug worked for Robb Engineering as a welder fitter for 38 years. Doug was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved Blue Grass music, listening to it when he passed away. He was a native of Joggins, moving to Amherst because of his health in 2006. A loving husband, father and grandfather he will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years Irene (Vienneau); his daughter Brenda Cottenden (Gordon) of Truemanville; grandchildren, Travis and Krista White; step grandchildren, Vanessa and Cody Cottenden; sisters Kay Mullett (Cyril), Hazel Daborn and Freda Belliveau (Don); brothers, Earl (Anna), Guy and Roger (Irma). Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Arthur. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong Jones Funeral Home(70 Church St. Amherst, N.S.) No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held in the Ragged Reef cemetery in the spring.
