Claudina C. "Todd" Harvey, 81, of Parrsboro passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Morton "Mott" and Irma (Carter) Durant. Todd is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Malcolm Archibald Harvey; loving children, Geoffrey (Valerie), Toronto; Kevin (Monika), Port Greville; Craig, Barrie, Ont.; Alex (Margaret), Toronto; Melissa Hood (Ron), Cambridge, Ont.; cherished grandchildren, Erin, Mackenzie, Corey, Kyle, Nicholas, Alyssa, Jessica, Melanie, Jenna, Josh, Liam, Sarah; great grandchildren, Aiden and Abigail; sisters, Noma Atwood (Neville), Bermuda; Corynne Martin (Ralph), Economy; brothers, Norman Morton Durant, Jr., Toronto; William Durant (Grace), Oromocto; many loving nieces and nephews. Todd will be remembered for her warm heart and kindness to family, friends and strangers alike. She began her career living in a lighthouse (Cape Sharp) and teaching in a one room school house in West Bay, Nova Scotia, after graduating from Parrsboro Regional High School. She then completed a Teaching Certificate at Truro Normal College and went on to teach elementary school in Parrsboro for a number of years. Todd followed her childhood sweetheart to Toronto where they were married in 1951 and dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. She returned home to Parrsboro with her husband in 1989 to enjoy their retirement. As with her life in Toronto, Todd continued her active involvement in both her church and community. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of South Cumberland Community Health Centre; their support, compassion and attention to Todd's needs were very much appreciated. Cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration of Todd's life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society.
