Diana M. Spence, 62, of Amherst and formerly of Parrsboro passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Doris (Pettigrew) Pettigrew. She is survived by her husband, Percy, Parrsboro; daughters, Kim Metz (Brian Shreenan), Truro; Amanda Hirtle (Dave Morrissey), Parrsboro; sons, Ricky (Sherry), Amherst; Perry (Shelly Caballero), Springhill; Allan, Springhill; sisters, Peggy Gilbert (Gordon), West Brook; Melissa Davies (Mike Peters), London, Ont.; Madeline Pettigrew (Terry), London, Ont.; Carol Proctor (Ernest), West Brook; Valerie Bates (Dave), London, Ont.; Gloria Brownell (Keith Burbine), River Hebert; Kathy Rector (Charles), Amherst; Shelly Rogers (Jimmy), Southampton; a brother, Larry (Sylvia McCoy), Parrsboro; 19 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well, her special lifelong friend, Bessie Spence; coffee buddy, Marge, and many close friends of Summit Avenue. She was predeceased by a son, Gerald; brother, Bobby. Visitation took place 7-9 p.m. Monday and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro where funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m., Rev. Greg Doyle officiating.
