
James "Jim" Mcnairn

Following a lengthy illness the death of James (Jim) McNairn, age 77, of Amherst and formerly of River Hebert, occurred suddenly at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst on Saturday, September 27, 2008. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Gifford and Gladys (DeWitt) McNairn. Brought up in River Hebert, as a young man he attended Agricultural College in Guelph, Ont., and became a Buttermaker. After working with MacKenzie Creamery in Windsor for several years, he returned to the farm in River Hebert where he operated a mixed farming operation until retirement in 1993. He was a member of Christ Church, Anglican Church, Amherst. Jim will be sadly missed by Myrna (Rice), his wife of 46 years; a son Scott (Shelley Brown); a daughter, Anne (Mike) Ritter; a brother, Earle (Sue); and a sister Shirley (Gary) Hill; nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Norma McNairn and brother-in-law Richard Graveline. He was predeceased by a sister Eileen and a brother, George. Jim's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, from where a time of visitation was held on Tuesday from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral service was held from Christ Church, Anglican Church, Amherst on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 11 a.m., Archdeacon Glenn Eason officiating. Burial in the River Hebert Cemetery.
