With great sadness, the family of James “Jimmy” Smith announce his passing at the QE II Hospital, Halifax on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Born in Amherst he was a son of Viola (Dunphy) Smith and the late Edgar Smith. An outdoorsman he made his living as a trapper and blueberry contractor. He enjoyed gardening. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his mother, Viola, Amherst; 2 daughters, Debbie and Brenda Smith; a son Louis (Terri); 5 grandchildren, Sheena, Elizabeth, Tristan, Christopher and Tyler; 2 brothers, Joe (Barbara) and Robert; 2 sisters, Barbara (Gary) Goodwin and Jean (Wyman) Snowdon; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Edgar, brothers, Jack, Larry, Danny and Gary and a sister, Eleanor. Jimmy’s remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777). A memorial service was held on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Furlong Jones Funeral Home Chapel. www.furlongjones.ca
