Lester Linkletter

While surrounded by his loving family, Lester S. Linkletter, age 71, of River Hebert East, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, after a courageous battle with Cancer. Born in River Hebert, he was a son of the late John and Susan (Vance) Linkletter. Lester was employed with CNR for 40 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of King Edward Lodge #86 AF&AM River Hebert, Past District Deputy Grand Master Cumberland District #6, Past Patron Golden Star Chapter #72 OES. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years Joan Linkletter; children, Debora (Larry) Jollymore, Elmsdale, Alan (Carol), River Hebert East, David (Kathy), Elmsdale, Lisa (Peter) White, River Hebert East; 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; brother Merle (Shirley), River Hebert East; sister Linda (Steven) Quinn, River Hebert East, several nieces and nephews. Also sadly missed by his dog Lucky. He was predeceased by infant sister Sharon and brother John "Sonny". Arrangements were entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777), where visiting hours were held on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service took place at the Furlong~Jones Chapel on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 2 pm, Pastor Clarence Clark officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert, followed by a time of tea and reflection at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #14, River Hebert. The King Edward Lodge #86 AF&AM River Hebert held a memorial service on Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
