Lloyd George MacDonald age 90, of Amherst passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Shinimicas, Cumberland County he was a son of the late I. Mainsworth and Florence (Irving) MacDonald. Lloyd was a carpenter by trade and worked for Sherman MacKay Ltd. and Bird Realty in Amherst for many years. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #10, Amherst. Lloyd enjoyed fishing and hunting and playing his guitar and fiddle. He is survived by one daughter Lynn (David) McLaughlin of Dartmouth, two sons Carmen and Greg (Shirley) both of Amherst, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, two sisters Mildred (Albert) Angus of Linden and Thelma (Bob) Bird of British Columbia, two brothers Russell (Grace) of Dartmouth and Percy of Amherst and many nieces and nephews.Lloyd was predeceased by his wife the former Lulu Dempsey, one son Ronald, brothers Irving, Ed, Alden and David. His remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst with visiting on Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with the Royal Canadian Legion tribute service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m. from Christ Church, Amherst with Archdeacon Glenn Eason officiating.Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
