Louise Allen Porter

Louise Allen Porter. age 71 of Amherst passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at home. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Ross Cameron and Edna (Campbell) Porter. She was a Breast Cancer "Survivor" Louise worked as a receptionist for Weight Watchers and the Amherst Stadium Canteen for many years. She was a member of the Girl Guides of Canada where she held the position of historian and treasurer for the Trefoil Guild. Louise and Carmen billetted many of the former Ramblers (Especially the Newfoundlanders). She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst. In her spare time, Louise enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, quilting and sewing. Louise will be sadly missed and always remembered by her loving children, Tracy (Ken) Parrell and Shelley (Michael) Rector both of Amherst, Roxanne (Ernie) Morris of Advocate, NS, and Allan (Karen) Porter of Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Alisha, Bradley, Marissa, Travis, Kyle, Jennifer, Stephanie and Blake. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmen (1995); one infant daughter. Resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service took place on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. A reception follow. Interment was in the Amherst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louise's memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. www.campbells-amherst.ca
