M. Florence 'Flo' Leblanc

M. Florence "Flo" LeBlanc, 92 years of age, of Amherst passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Amherst she was a daughter of the late Adolphe & Leah (Cormier) White. Flo worked as a production worker, having worked at the Maritime Pant Factory, the Bendex Co. and Playtex Ltd., retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Holy Family Parish, Amherst. A mother and grandmother, she loved to cook and enjoyed short drives around the community. Flo will be sadly missed by her daughter, Doreen Delong of Amherst; her son, Donald of Nanaimo, B.C.; five grandchildren, Christine, Ellen, Stephen, Susan and Wally; nine great grandchildren, Amy, Nicholas, Jason, Adam, Danielle, Emily, Alyse, Michael and Glen; and 2 great great grandchildren, Allison and Braden and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1986, a daughter, Jean in 1978, sisters, Genevieve Bowden, Phyllis White, Rena Scott and Mae Burke; five brothers, Wallace, Roy, Nap, Edgar and Roy J. Her remains have been entrusted to the care of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home (70 Church St., Amherst, NS 667-8777). The family received visitors at the Furlong-Jones Chapel on Monday, June 23. Flo's funeral mass took place from the Holy Family Parish on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 10am with Rev. Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Burial was in the Saint Charles-Nativity Cemetery.
