Marion Elizabeth Helpard

PUGWASH – The death of Marion Elizabeth Helpard, 89, occurred at East Cumberland Lodge on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Born in Tidnish, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Myrtle (Baxter) Jackson. Marion was a great cook and a well known caterer and seamstress. She enjoyed a game of Auction 45’s and was an active member of her card club. She had a cottage at Jackson’s Point and returned every summer with ‘Patches’. Marion will be sadly missed by two daughters, Caryl (Bill) Thornton, of Fredericton and Patricia (Junior Arseneau) Fields of Amherst; two sons, Wayne (Linda) of Amherst and Eric (Georgie) of Lorneville; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband Reginald and one sister, Madeline Embree. Marion’s remains have been entrusted into the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777). Visitation will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Amherst Cemetery in the Spring.
