Richard D. Pettigrew West Brook - Richard Daniel Pettigrew, 95, of West Brook, Cumberland County passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in West Brook, he was a son of the late Daniel and Lucy (Pettigrew) Pettigrew. He was employed in the Springhill Mines for a time. He also worked on the Cumberland Railway between Springhill and Parrsboro until the line closed. He worked at an auto body shop in Peabody, Mass. and finally worked with Dickinson Brothers for many years. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, the former Margaret Henwood; daughter, Alfreda Perry, Parrsboro; a son, Douglas, Parrsboro; a sister, Lorena MacAloney, Markham, Ont.; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Mae, Halia, Violet, Grace; brothers, Elmer, Kervin, Burton, Donald. Visitation 7-9 p.m. was on Wednesday at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial in the West Brook Cemetery.
