Thomas Earle Brooks, 65, of Amherst died suddenly on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Amherst Head, Tom was a son of the late Robert and Lois (Cameron) Brooks. He is survived by sons, Gregory (Bonnie), Robert and Ashley; son-in-law, Shawn Lawson; three grandsons, Tyler, Dylan and Brandon; step-grandchildren, Adam, Tammy and Mark; sisters, Shirley Hardie (Raymond), Thelma Mitchell, Joyce Atkinson (Aubrey) and Peggy Stevens (Brian); brothers, Al and Murray (Valerie); and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Paula, earlier in 2008, a sister, Catherine and a brother, Donald Gordon. Tom worked for a number of years at Amherst Woodworking and Cobequid Lumber, Oxford Jct.. He also enjoyed working in the woods and gardening in his younger years. One of the highlights of his days during his retirement was to join his buddies at Tim Horton's for a coffee and a chat. Tom's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Church St., Amherst, from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11 am, Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating. Burial in the Amherst Head Cemetery. Friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm. www.furlongjones.ca
