SCHIFFNER - Muriel Grace (Toodie) of Hazlet, SK, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the age of 80 years. Toodie was born on February 3, 1929, at Abbey, SK. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, son Clayton (Rosemary) Schiffner and her daughter Judi (Larry) Slusar; five grandchildren, Kim (Andy) Schneider, Gillian Schiffner, Amber (Shawn) Reeves, Kurt (Kristy) Slusar and Lauren (Joe) Carnahan; four geat grandchildren, Jackson and Zachary Schneider and Drake Dumont and Sutter Reeves; her brothers, Wayne Vilness and Bob (Rita) Vilness; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her very good friend and neighbour, Rhonda Pollock. She was predeceased by her parents, Devold and Thelma Vilness; her husband George Schiffner; her infant son, Johnny Schiffner; her sister-in-law Alice Vilness; and infant nephew Bradley Vilness. Toodie started driving school bus in 1969; she also drove the mail route from Hazlet to Cabri starting in 1975, and after many miles finished her last bus route in 1993. She drove the mail route until 2005, when she took a much deserved retirement. In her younger years, Toodie enjoyed playing softball, listening to music and trucking with her husband, George. After her retirement she took up computer and loved to surf the internet and send her family and friends emails. Toodie loved animals, especially cats and she was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. She will be missed by her family and friends who were entertained by her unique sense of humour. The memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 1:00 PM at the Hazlet Community Hall with Carola Anderson officiating. The ushers were Barry Zinn and Larry Sletton. The organist was Terry Lou Bailey. Pallbearers were all those who shared her life. The eulogy was given by long time friend, Barry Zinn. Interment of her cremated remains took place on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Swift Current, SK. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Wheatland Mall, Unit 12A, 1150 Central Avenue North, Swift Current, SK, S9H 4C8 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917 A Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4R 2P6.
