William James Murphy, age 83 of Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in New Waterford, William was a longtime resident of Toronto where he was employed as a contractor. He will be remembered as a kind man willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by seven children, Mary Anne Murphy, Nora Murphy, Billy, Mike, Rannie, Sean, Kevin Murphy and several grand and great grandchildren.
William was predeceased by his wife, the former Anne Haines.
Visitation will take place Friday, April 10, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Gerald Campbell will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph\'s Church, Reserve Mines. Interment at a later date in the parish cemetery.
