Aged 69 years, of Whitbourne, formerly of Quincy, Massachusetts (Boston), passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital after many years of illness on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Predeceased by his mother Mary (Koch) and stepson Peter Perry. Left with fond and loving memories his devoted wife of 26 years Jean (Petipas); four children: Michelle, Timmy, Kevin and Michael, all of Massachusetts; stepchildren: Brenda Black (Wayne Mercer), Whitbourne, Terry Black and Richard Perry (Linda) of Massachusetts; and eleven grandchildren. Also remembered by his father Bud Phelan; siblings: Billy (Mary), Fran, AnneMarie (Ed) all of Massachusetts; his aunt Ann Byrne of California, many other relatives and friends, especially Gene, Oral and Curt here in N.L. and Irving (Hutch) and Red MacDonald in Boston. Vincent was born and raised in Quincy, Mass., and retired to Newfoundland in 1987 after 25 years of service with the Massachusetts State Police. Previous to that he was enlisted in the U.S. Marines. Vinny loved sports and followed his beloved Red Sox and New England Patriots faithfully. We all love you Vinny. Resting at Holloway’s Funeral Home in Whitbourne. Visitation Monday 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Funeral to be held at 2 p.m. Tues. April 7, 2009 at St. Alphonsus Church, Whitbourne.
