Yvonne Smith passed away peacefully at the Herb Basset Home on Monday April 6th. She is survived by Don Smith her husband of 54 years, her daughter Sharon Vancise (Darryl) and sons Jeff Smith (Judy) and David Smith (Suzanne). Yvonne also has six grandchildren, Brett, Emily, Alexandra, Griffin, Owen and Carolyn whom she loved dearly. Yvonne was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Bill and Babe Utis. She lived in the United States as an infant moving with her father’s career on the railroad before the family settled in Wynyard, Sask. when she was 6. She was an accomplished student and received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1951. After marrying Don in 1954 the family lived in several locations within the province before moving to Prince Albert from Saskatoon in 1968. Along with raising her family Yvonne worked as a Pharmacist for Rowe’s Drugstore and Crescent Heights Pharmacy in Prince Albert. She was very active at St Alban’s Cathedral in the Auxiliary and Robertas and was a member of Kinettes and K40s. Her family was her pride and her joy and the love, support and guidance she always provided will be missed greatly and remembered always. A Memorial Service for Yvonne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. Alban’s Cathedral, 1410 Bishop MacLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Ken Lyons officiating. A Private Family Interment will be held after the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
