We, the daughters of Stanley Gordon MacLennan, Taigh Na Mara and formerly from Marion Bridge, regret to announce his passing on Wednesday, April 8, 2009.
Gordon was the son of the late Alexander and Gladys (Roper) MacLennan, Sydney Mines.
A veteran of the Second World War, dad joined the army at an early age and spent five years overseas. Upon returning home, he worked at the Marine Hospital, Sydney, spent five years with the RCMP, Marine Division and completed his career as a commissionaire at the City Hospital, Sydney.
He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Lucy Beaton; an infant son, Murray; second wife, Rita (MacNeil) MacLennan and a brother, Reginald.
Gordon is survived by his three daughters, Carole (John Lovell), Boularderie, Muriel (Roger MacMillan), Sydney and Connie (Rod MacKinnon), Florence. Also surviving are brothers, Murray, Calgary, Earle, White Rock, B.C. and Allister, Halifax; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be no visitation. A family graveside service will take place at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines.
