Clovie ‘Rocky’ Roach

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Clovie ‘Rocky’ Roach on Monday, April 6, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in Cheticamp.
Born in Cheticamp, he was the son of the late Leo and Alice (Doucet) Roach.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp.
Clovie had been employed by Nirca for the past 13 years as the arena manager. It was a job he truly loved going to every day.
He genuinely like to make people laugh, whether it be with his famous singing or with a witty remark. You knew he always had something to make you smile.
Clovie was also an avid hockey fan. Everybody knew that the Detroit Red Wings were his team from the shrine in his office to his love of talking about them. Let us not forget about the Cheticamp Alouettes who brought him great joy over the years.
But his greatest sense of pride and joy was holding his little grandson, Breton, along with the family pets, Sambo, Sandy, Joe and Sadie.
Clovie, you will be loved and missed forever.
He is survived by wife, Patricia (Camus) Roach; son, Ralph (Christine), Bedford; daughter, Rhonda (Russell), Cheticamp; brother, Clifford (Doris) Roach, Mississauga, Ont.; four sisters, Doris Roach, Toronto, Ont., Leona (Ambrose) Muise, Grand Etang, Ethel (Edmond) Aucoin, Antigonish, Linda (Marcel) LeFort, Cheticamp; grandson, Breton; godson, Jeremy Larade and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Wilfred, Daniel and Norman and also two sisters Marie Jeanne Romard and Pauline Deveaux.
Visitation will take place at the Cheticamp Funeral Home Monday, April 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp, with Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment to be held at the parish cemetery.
