STICKEL - The family of Fredrick “Freddie†Stickel are sad to announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the age of 84 years, beloved husband of Jean Fandrich of Webb, SK. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Valerie Barrett, Ryan Schorr (Jean); step-children, Linda Beaupre (Eugene), Bill Anderson, Paul Pearce (Connie), Kathy Dieterle (Brad); his grandchildren; great grandchildren; his sisters, Emily Stehr and Christina Stehr, both of Medicine Hat; and numerous nieces and nephews. They will all miss their summer days on “Grandpa’s farm.†He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Freddie was born on the family farm to Christina and Fred Stickel on November 14, 1924, and grew up in the Wisdom, Bowel, and Medicine Hat areas. He later moved to Swift Current, finally settling in Webb, SK. He will be remembered for his love of being on the farm with Jean, surrounded by his animals, especially his horses and dog. He enjoyed riding whenever possible, or taming some bronco that no one else would ride. Freddie was always ready to have company drop by for a visit or a card game. Many will fondly remember honking as they passed his place on the highway, and receiving his smile and casual wave from the back of a horse or while relaxing on the porch with Jean. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the Pattison Funeral Home on Thursday evening, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and on Friday afternoon from 12:00 - 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Pattison Chapel on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Virgil Covel officiating.
