Mason, Ruth Margaret (West) -75, East Mountain/Truro, passed away peacefully April 13, 2009 surrounded by the love and comfort of her family in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Windsor Junction, N.S. on April 2, 1934, Ruth was the second oldest of three sisters of the late Aberdeen and Beatrice (Keddy) West. She was predeceased by her son Christopher, sisters Joan and Claire and her husband David. Ruth and her family moved to Truro in 1970, where she became a long-standing member of the Valley United Church and UCW. She worked full time for most of her life while raising a family of four and was most happy when surrounded by her family and “adopted” family. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother, and is warmly remembered by some as the “Angel of East Mountain”. She is survived by her daughter, Ruthann Richardson (partner Willy); her sons, Stephen (Christine), Dean and Mark (Christine); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Visitation will be held at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, from 7-9 pm on Friday April 17, 2009. Funeral service will be held at the Valley United Church on Saturday April 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow. Interment at a later date.
