Cox, Donald Sylvester - 86, Normandy Avenue, Truro, passed away April 15, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born June 8, 1922 in Truro, he was the youngest son of the late R. Boyd and Elizabeth May (Burgess) Cox. Donnie was a member of First United Church his entire life. He had served as an usher and was a member of "The Happy Gang" for many years. Donnie grew up on Ryland Avenue in Bible Hill before moving to town with his family. He was employed at Stanfield’s Ltd. for 44 years. He enjoyed working hard all of his life. Donnie enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had many friends from the community, the racetrack and the Truro Golf Club who were very familiar with his teasing and quick wit. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Della May (Scott); son, Gary (Joan), Truro; grandchildren, Allison (Ryan Butcher), New Glasgow, Donald (Emily Stanley), Stuart (Amanda Gould), both of Truro. He was predeceased by brother, Milton Burgess Cox; sister, Marguerite Blanche Cox. Visitation will be held Friday from 7-9 pm; memorial service on Saturday at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Spring interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation. The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors in the emergency department and the ICU at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Casey and also the VON Nurses who Donnie loved to tease.
So rest and relax and grow stronger let go and let God share your load. Your work is not finished or ended you've just come to a bend in the road.
